Can Conservatism Survive a Romney-Bachmann Ticket?

OK, how about a Romney-Perry ticket?

Or Romney-Santorum ticket?

Or Romney-Cain? Romney-Gingrich?

To pick up on a theme by Vassar Bushmills yesterday:

Conventional wisdom says Romney is in.

Conventional wisdom also says Romney needs to bring in the conservative tea party vote.

Conservative wisdom says these are unconventional times; unconventional solutions and unconventional voting patterns.

I already know, with a GOP House and Senate, the Republic can survive any Romney ticket.

But can conservatism?

To be honest, I don’t think so, not for at least a generation. But since any Romney candidacy reduces by half the chances of a GOP victory at all, it could also mean the end of the Republic, for even without the Congress, another four year Obama term will throw America back to the Stone Age.

This is a clear call to the five candidates. Search your soul. If you are anything but a conservative first in this contest, get out now and throw your support behind one of the others. Don’t make us hate you.

If the ruling class establishment is so proud of its stand and positions, then it should find another moderate Republican to complete the team.

I can think of several.
