Will Obama Become Undone Tonight?

It’s the only reason I can think to watch this.

Ever since Obama’s partial meltdown during the Debt Ceiling negotiations, when Boehner walked out on him, the cat has been out of the bag.

We have all watched closely since. He clearly has been less engaged, to the point of almost asking himself why he is even there. He looks at some audiences like Bill Clinton often did Hillary, wondering “What the hell am I doing here?”

Rush Limbaugh early on stated that one of the hardest things for any public figure to do is to bring his A-game in front of the camera after everyone has seen the real him….and he knows they know it.  He was speaking of both Tiger Woods and Obama, and it seems now that Obama may fold first.

Lady Penguin said Obama had a “jump the shark” moment back then, and today…I’m projecting here, putting myself in his shoes, you know, having to walk out in front of television cameras, a national audience, and a collected Congress that has been hostile, mean-spirited, and worse, un-fearing,  just in setting up the date for this unprecedented Joint Session for such an unimportant message…I’d be nervous as hell.

I’d be sucking on a Life Saver, for sure. Lemon.

Now I always keep in mind that the Obama’s team has a Plan B we’re not privy to, and it’s on that crutch that he can do these uncomfortable things with a modicum of composure. But sometimes that undone moment can come from a most simple signal in the audience; a wink, a flipped bird, a loud snore from the Secretary of State. Who knows?

And as he sinks into a fetal position on the rostrum, I’d feel really bad for Barack Obama.

For about five minutes.
