In the cosmology of things, this can never happen, since the contest between Good and Evil is eternal.
But that’s for those of you who read.
And today, many can’t…at least for comprehension.
But a serious caution; there are so many of them now they can be outcome determinative in this national struggle for the soul of America, which, we all agree, is tied to that eternal struggle, mentioned above.
To the extent that almost everyone engaged in this struggle…there are probably fewer “undecideds” standing on the sideline today than at any time in American history since the Civil War…both, think of their side as the “Good” and the other side “the Evil”, the sudden appearance of an army of know-nothings, teenage mutant tadpoles, should not be seen as mere coincidence.
Just as America was not a result of spontaneous combustion, neither was the deployment of this mutant tadpole army accidental. They are here, at this time, and in this place, for a purpose. Evil has its own invisible hand as well.
This is why I preach the gospel of the unified theory, for there is a great difference between an enemy who hates you, and wants to wants to control us totally, and one who merely wants to play political and rhetorical footsey with you in the never-ending pendulum of political power in America; four years to the right, then four years to the left. While everyone riding this pendulum are enriched in money and fame, and are deliriously happy about the good fortune that has befallen them, the right side never notices that every time the pendulum swings two steps forward, it’s three-four steps back.
The pendulum theory has had a serious hitch in its giddy-up since Lyndon Johnson was sworn in on Air Force One in Dallas, November 22, 1963. (In the 52 yrs since LBJ was sworn in, the White was held by Dems 24 years, the GOP 28, yet look what we’ve lost over the same period.) Knowing this, the Left and their allies have created a war that has become good for everyone involved on both sides of the pendulum in terms of money, celebrity, even the illusion of power, all without, from our pro-American side, what Nassim Nicholas Taleb continuously refers to as “skin in the game”.
Therefore, the lust for this status makes our apostle-warriors never to want to see this contest end.
Conservatives and Republicans riding the pendulum never saw this inequality of political outcome the past 50 years. But the majority of America did, and they have renamed the palace of the pendulum “the Swamp”.
Thus a war within a war has begun, for as many as 40%-maybe 45%- of the people inside the Swamp are supposedly on the side of “the people” in this eternal fight against Evil, who wants to totally subjugate “the people” but who realty have no skin in the game to cause them to risk what “the people” risk just by being born. Even Rush Limbaugh has a bailout Plan B, probably New Zealand, which was the preferred place in the 1990s. (I placed a client there then.)
No, we’re on our own.
Of course, our people inside the Swamp know, actually believe, this can never happen, and the never-ending story of the Swamp will, well, never end. And Brett Baier believes, just as Brit Hume passed the mantle to him, he will be able to pass it on to another, as the fair-and-balanced antidote to whatever the Left has planned….a never ending game.
Most modern conservatives believe being “for something” was all they had to bring to the table to carry out their roles in this never-ending story. Truth, justice and the American Way. They never bargained on running into an opponent that was hellbent on their total destruction, and especially that “truth, justice and the American Way” riff. The Left had a totally different song, actually for many years, but have played the Swamp conservatives for many years, keeping their eye on the smaller game within the larger game.
That’s why the unified theory, understanding your enemy, is so important. It’s what the scientists call “survival-enhancing” behavior, and for some reason, in animal groups from the smallest rodents and birds to apes who walk erect and have opposable thumbs and enlarged brains so they can make things with their hands, it’s the herd and not the alpha-elites who sense the danger in a timely manner when an enemy hellbent on their destruction is at the barricade.
We are mostly engaging in a war that was never designed to be won, but one which is only to be fought, and fought, and fought, until one side is totally spent.
Hence the title.
The simple truth is that, as pointed out in the opening paragraphs, either the Left has every intention in defeating us totally, and then doing with the people what they’ve always longed to do, subjugate them, at least until the passage of time allows them to turn their children into the teenage mutant tadpoles we’re already beginning to see proliferate, with, in Johnny Cash’s words, “No hope, no how”, or, as those without skin in the game most want, that pendulum will forever move from right to left, two feet forward and four feet back.
Don’t bet on the latter.
What will happen to our “intellectual, yet idiots” (as Taleb titled his book) then? Lenin sent all of Russia’s useful idiots off to the gulag, never to be seen again. Their record was erased, Russian history as devoid of their names after 1920 as Wikipedia is “Great American Tories” today. I can list dozens of prominent conservative names who can’t conceive that history, even recent history, could forget them, but already the name of Will and Kristol causes many to lower their heads and sigh….not because they are #NeverTrumpers so much, but the petty, even childish things they have revealed about themselves in making common cause with the enemies of our Republic, because of that hatred for Donald Trump. “The measure of a man….”
I analyze people using logic, and can find no way they can profess a love of America and say the things they have about the hoi polloi who make up America. The very nerve!
Then again, just a year ago, who every heard of a nondescript congressman from California named Devin Nunes? His name will live or die by who wins the war, for he does understand the end game, something our intellectuals with no skin in the game could ever understand.
I’ve cut almost all ties with the Media, but in solidarity with the people who never paid attention to them in first place. One of the things we learn as we get older is that it is the people who see the really great threats most clearly once they become imminent. Their betters always hang around until after it’s too late, trying to negotiate with enemies who never had any intention of negotiating. Genghis Khan proved that in the thirteenth century, building pyramids of skulls from the city-dwellers who hung on to palaver.
I’m sick and tired of being told the media has great power. They have power over a few thousand, maybe even a few hundred thousand people if you include government employees. And almost all are located inside the Swamp. True New York has its swamp as well, as does California. In fact every state does. But we now know they aren’t enough to carry (fair) elections
They no longer can win elections, so their only way to power is to scheme and cheat their way there, or shoot their way in.
If the media could win elections Hillary would be president. So Trump isn’t the real enemy. The people are and they have to be vanquished.
So what we are witnessing is a “small ball” game within a much larger game, in which the small-ball game is this internecine war from which everyone knows the media, some sort of media, has to survive. We can destroy the organized Left as we now know it, but we cannot destroy “the press”. A free press is a natural appendage to a free people, and it exists in virtually every county and small town in America, which, incidentally, are the only profitable print newspapers remaining in America.
If you’re looking for models.
The Left is relying on not only #NeverTrump’s at the old establishment conservative bastions, but even Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, to keep this small-ball illusion alive, for as long as these preachers of truth, justice and the American Way see the Media as a devil it will cost them millions to kill…they won’t.
Their vitriol is real, but so is the shadow boxing.
The media can’t hurt us (the people) except through our elected representatives. Every election, including those seeking to upend Democrat mainstays such as Pelosi, Wilson and Moms Mabley (Maxine Waters) it must be impressed on the voters that their enemy is the Medi and Democrats are their surrogates. Build a campaign around that and you will be taking voters away from the Left at a time they need them to show some semblance of legitimacy.
Some will even win.
Rush Limbaugh can’t afford to actual beat the Devil-Media. Fox News can’t either. But if the people choose to do so on their own, then Rush will retire anyway, and Fox will change their programming and be content with reporting the news more than commenting on it, for they will have then replaced CNN from 1980, who will be out of business altogether.

I have often thought of the battle for our nation as the battle between good and evil. The evil, of course, Communism i.e., the Democratic Party, the party of slavery, Jim Crow, the KKK who has destroyed the Black family, then upped its game to destroying every family in America, to our children, women, men and so on.
Agreed, that each side believes that it is on the side of good and the other aligned with evil. That has never been so apparent than the morning after the 2016 presidential election, my grandson’s other grandmother arrived at his home declaring newly-elected Donald J. Trump, an “evil man, the face of the devil.”
That comes from a woman whom when I met her declared that she was a Christian but after a few years could no longer keep up the charade and one-day spouted her true feelings which is that Christianity was for Caucasians (or something). Mind you, she’s from an island in the Caribbean that worships at alters of darkness several times a month, sprays gook out of her mouth and practices voodoo or whatever its called in Jamaica aka Democratic voters.
Yet, this woman actually believes that hers is the force for good. I’m very cautious about the company I keep.
The good thing is that my grandchildren thinks this woman is nuts.
Not nuts, just interesting, Denise. My mother was a hard Pentecostal, so she thought Baptist were evil, not to mention Catholics. So I can imagine what she would have thought about a Caribbean ju-ju peddler. Personally, I love to hear them, and general stay quiet so I can learn, You’re very lucky.
